Hello There

Do you like movie and/or tv (usually Spongebob) references? My name is Franco, and I am a motion designer based in the Greater Toronto Area that specializes in 3D and Motion Graphics, with education in Graphic Design. When I'm not working, I'm watching a movie (mostly 3D animated and/or Sci-Fi), playing video games, or learning something new! I absolutely love experimenting with new tech, but I also seem to have pretty bad luck so spending a weekend diagnosing/repairing some device is a very common occurrence.

Anyway, let's connect! You can find me on LinkedIn and... sorry that's pretty much it for now, but I digress. You can find me on LinkedIn using the button in the navigation bar above!

Why Motion Design?

Storytime. Many of my ideas have been inspired by movies I have seen, and my career is no different. It all started back in high school, when I first watched Pixar's Inside Out in theatres, and I really connected with it. I had dabbled in 3D before (when I was 10 or 11 I made a pipe from Mario! Sure it was just two cylinders stacked on top of each other... but hey we all have to start somewhere right?) but I never really considered it as a career option. My original plan was to go into either computer science, or computer hardware engineering, but after I started exploring Blender/digital design in general, I got hooked and the rest is history.

My Creative Process

My way of working may be considered unorthodox, in that whenever I get a project I first spend at least a few hours just imagining how the end result should look/feel, before I even create my files. The benefit to this is that my projects are usually well thought out before too much time is put in, but most of the work is in my head. What can I say? The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma.

My Work Ethic

I am a firm believer that good work takes time. When given the opportunity, I will take my time and strive for perfection. But I also believe in being on time (I never knowingly handed in an assignment late when I was in school) so I do my best to balance the two. I am also against submitting work that I am not proud of so I always aim to do good work.

My Software Experience

I pride myself on constantly learning and experimenting, so I have built up quite a broad software arsenal. Here are some of the relevant (and some not so relevant to design) pieces of software I am familiar with!

  • Adobe Suite (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Animate, XD, Lightroom, Acrobat)
  • Blender 3D
  • Cinema 4D
  • Unreal Engine
  • OBS
  • vMix
  • Audacity
  • Google Web Designer
  • Webflow
  • Affinity Design Suite (Designer, Photo, Publisher)
  • Apple Pro Apps (Final Cut Pro, Compressor, Motion)
  • Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Word)
  • Apple Work (Keynote, Numbers)
  • MacOS, Windows, iPadOS

My Movie/TV Choices

Will this help me get hired? Probably not... but because many of my designs have been inspired by movies, these give some insight into my art style.

  • Soul
  • Elemental
  • Pacific Rim

  • Total Recall
